Our Story
About Celestial Church of Christ
Our History
Founded in Faith, Rooted in the Spirit
The Celestial Church of Christ is a Spirit-led Christian denomination with roots in West Africa and a growing presence across the globe. Our East Cleveland parish carries that same legacy of prayer, healing, and prophetic worship to Northeast Ohio.
1947
Prophet Samuel Bilehou Oshoffa receives a divine vision in Porto-Novo, Benin (then
Dahomey). The Celestial Church of Christ is founded. Miraculous healings and signs
accompany the ministry from the very beginning.
1950s–1970s
CCC spreads rapidly across West Africa. Parishes are established in Nigeria, Ghana,
Côte d'Ivoire, and beyond. The distinctive white garment (sutana) becomes the
recognized mark of CCC worshippers worldwide.
1980s–1990s
CCC expands internationally as members emigrate to Europe and North America. Parishes
are established in the United Kingdom, France, and across the United States, bringing
the spirit of Oshoffa's ministry to new continents.
Today
Ase Oluwa Parish 2 serves the East Cleveland community with the same Spirit that
founded the church over seven decades ago. Every service is an opportunity to
encounter the living God through worship, prophecy, and healing prayer.
Core Beliefs & Practices
One God, Holy Trinity — We believe in God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and the full authority of Scripture.
White Garments (Sutana) — Baptized members wear white robes as a symbol of purity, consecration, and readiness before God.
Barefoot Worship — Shoes are removed before entering the sanctuary as an act of reverence, following Moses at the burning bush (Exodus 3:5).
Healing Ministry — We believe in divine healing as a present-day reality. Prayer for the sick is central to every service.
Prophetic Ministry — The gifts of the Holy Spirit, including prophecy and discernment, operate freely in our services.
Water Baptism — Believers are baptized by immersion in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Holy Communion — We celebrate the Lord's Supper in remembrance of Christ's sacrifice and in anticipation of His return.
The Rainbow Sign
The rainbow is central to CCC identity — a reminder of God's covenant with humanity (Genesis 9:13). The seven colors of our worship represent the fullness and faithfulness of God's promises.
